GTS and Sveitarfélagið Árborg have signed a renewed five-year agreement covering transport services for schools, public transport, residents with disabilities, and day-care transport for older residents in the municipality.

As part of the renewed agreement, GTS continues to prioritise the renewal of its fleet. Three of the nine vehicles currently serving Árborg are fully electric, with plans to add more electric vehicles in the coming years.

Electric vehicles provide a quieter, smoother journey and eliminate exhaust fumes at the door. These may seem like small differences, but they matter when a service is used several times a week. The transition to electric vehicles is also a step towards reducing the environmental impact of local transport, particularly in a municipality where many journeys are short and well suited to electric driving.
